Many of us were thinking where we can save a lot. We always look for bargains. Sometimes we mark our calendars for After-Holiday and Clearance sales. We rush on garage sales, also known as a yard sale, rummage sale, tag sale, attic sale, moving sale, or junk sale, hoping that we cand find unwanted items from the household with the home owners conducting the sale. Well, aside from sweating out looking for sales, in these tight budget times, another way to save money is to buy refurbished products. When we heard refurbish, we think of non-working parts are replaced. To refurbish something means that it's been renewed or updated in some way, and in general, that's true for electronics. Though in electronics world, refurbish doesn’t have an official meaning. They can mean many things. Let’s say, a buyer bought a gadget . When he started using it, the buyer felt that there is no need for it, having the so called feeling, “buyers remorse”. Since we have 30 day warranty where we can return the products within 30 days and be refunded for the amount cost, the buyer simply decides to return it. A reputable seller will take the item, and then send it to the manufacturer to be checked for defects. Once it’s determined to be operating normally, it will be sold as refurbished. In some cases, the customer returned the item because they were having problems with the gadget they purchased. Manufacturers then take the product, repair it and sell it again as refurbished. There are also time where the box was merely opened, although, technically, there was no issue other than the box was opened and was sent back to the manufacturers for repacking, the product is classified as refurbished. My point is, refurbish is not always recycling. Though recycling was never bad. Refurbished products often come with some sort of limited warranty. The duration of the warranty may range from thirty days to over a year. Depending on the product, it is also sometimes possible to obtain a service contract on refurbished products that is comparable to service contracts on brand new goods. Refurbished products are often a great bargain for consumers. As a means of purchasing desired goods on a tight budget, having refurbished products can be an excellent option. In fact, some certified refurbished products are more reliable than the new items, since they’ve essentially been checked over twice, to make sure that the product is already operating. If you are smart and wanted to save, go with refurbished products. You could save real money, perhaps hundreds of dollars. |
